Oliver! draws to a close, and a new term is about to begin

21 August 2019 by Dominic Holmes

Hello everyone,

After 2 weeks the production of Oliver! at Lincoln Cathedral has come to and end. It’s been a wonderful production to be a part of and great fun to play in, and I am looking forward to being part of their production of ‘Shrek’ next year! Not only was this show a success musically but it also generated over 4 tonnes of food, glorious food, for local food banks through audience donations. This was a fantastic achievement and I am very proud to have played a part in it.

Saturday night saw my first gig as the bass player for a wedding party band, and it was a success overall. I am grateful that I put in many hours worth of preparation for the tunes, although it turned out that we didn’t play a number of the pieces I had been working on! It’s all good practise in the end, though.

We now enter the calm before the new term storm begins. For the next couple of weeks I will be in the shed preparing for new students and the return of pupils from last year. The next couple of weeks will also see a return to composition as well, as I am still aiming to get enought materail together for a reasonable length recording. I will be keeping everyone posted as it happens!

Hope you all are well,
